a true love story

Ron and Suzanne met at a pub called Gramma's pub. Whenever somebody asks the two where they met they always say, "We met at Gramma's" and people often think they're talking about one of their grandparents.

Suzanne had just gotten out of a bad relationship and decided to move from Red Deer Alberta to a small town on the west coast of British Columbia. She got out of the cab on the day she moved and headed straight to the pub.

When she got to the pub, Ron was there seated at a table outside on the patio. A mutual friend introduced them.  Suzanne claims that when she saw Ron sitting there. her ears began to ring. Suzanne wasn't thinking she wanted to be with this man, instead, she thought to herself that Ron was going to be one of her best friends. She stands by that statement. To her, Ron was and still always will be her best friend. That's what has made their relationship so strong.

A wedding and a Hospital visit

Ron has been married for over fifteen years. However, he doesn't wear a wedding ring. There's a reason for this. On his wedding day, the couple made the discovery that the ring was just a bit too tight. This tight gold wedding band would go on to save Ron a lot of complications and may have even saved his life.

Earlier that day, Ron was putting the final touches on the stage in the backyard. The ceremony was only a few hours away, but Ron wanted to make sure that everything was perfect for their little backyard wedding. During these final touch-ups, Ron pricked his ring finger on a rusty nail. At the time, he didn't take much notice to this.

Much later after the ceremony, and after Suzanne squeezed the slightly too tight wedding band onto Ron's finger, Ron noticed his ring finder wasn't looking particularly good. And the fact was it wasn't doing well at all. That morning after pricking his finger, Ron had given himself a minor, but still worrisome case of blood poisoning, and after a night of partying with family, friends, and new wife, the blood poisoning had slowly begun to travel up his arm. The reason it wasn't so serious after hours of going unnoticed, was due to his just too tight wedding ring. It blocked the circulation in his finger and allowed him to go a while before eventually having to go to the emergency room.
